Together with our partners on the Vodacom account, VML, we created the Vodacom Hearing Challenge.
THE PROBLEM
In South Africa hearing screening isn’t mandatory at school – leaving youth with undiagnosed hearing loss to face learning challenges. The HearZA app was developed to test hearing, but young people weren’t using it.
OUR INNOVATION
We leveraged Gen-Z’s love for Amapiano music challenges, and developed a TikTok music-based challenge that tests hearing.
Our custom-designed song, mimicked the clinical speech-in-noise test used in HearZA. We combined the song, and TikTok’s filter functionality to create our interactive Hearing Challenge.
HEARING CHALLENGE EXPERIENCE
The song is embedded in the Hearing Challenge filter. Users listened and selected the numbers they could hear with their head. A final score showed their result, and linked those with hearing issues to download the HearZA app.
